What we collect

Place searches are sent to our server so it can return matching London locations. We do not provide accounts and do not intentionally store search text with a personal profile.

Directions feedback

If you answer the optional directions question, we store the answer, rank name, finder type and time so the site owner can review whether rank directions are working. We do not store your location or an account identifier with that response. A short-lived IP-based rate limit helps prevent spam and is not retained with the feedback.

Google Analytics

After you accept the cookie notice, we load Google Analytics to understand aggregated site use. Google may set analytics cookies and process technical information such as device and browser data. With your agreement, we also measure loading speed, responsiveness and layout stability to improve the site. These performance events do not include search text or location coordinates. We do not use Google Analytics for advertising or sell personal data.

Google AdSense advertising

Rank result lists may include an advertisement provided by Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies and device information to serve and measure ads, according to your advertising consent choices. Advertising consent is separate from the analytics notice and is managed through Google’s consent message. Ad requests remain paused until that system reports an eligible choice. Blocking ads or declining advertising cookies does not prevent you from using the rank finder.

Your location

Your browser shares location only after you press “Use my location” and grant permission. The coordinates are used in your browser to order nearby ranks and are not saved to an account.

Cookies and local storage

The private preview and management areas use essential, secure cookies to remember authorised access. Your cookie-notice choice is kept in local storage. You can clear site data in your browser to withdraw that choice; analytics will not load again until you accept the notice.

Service logs

Our hosting and security providers may process short-lived technical logs such as IP address, request time, browser information and errors to operate and protect the service. Search failure logs avoid storing unnecessary personal information.

Third-party data and links

Map tiles, OpenStreetMap data, TfL rank data and external direction links are provided by their respective services. Their privacy policies apply to their services.
