Victoria station taxi ranks: passenger guide

London Victoria has taxi facilities on more than one side of the station. Network Rail identifies a pick-up-only rank at Terminus Place and a pick-up and drop-off rank on Wilton Road.

TfL’s main station record is a 51-space rank at Victoria Railway Station. Because the concourse serves different train groups and street exits, check the signs before leaving the building.

Step by step

How to find the rank

  1. 1

From the concourse, follow black-taxi signs and decide whether Terminus Place or Wilton Road is the nearer signed route.

  2. 2

Use Terminus Place for the station-front, pick-up-only rank. It is partially covered.

  3. 3

The Wilton Road rank is uncovered and reached using the controlled pedestrian crossing.

  4. 4

Victoria Coach Station is a separate building on Buckingham Palace Road. If arriving there, use its own signed taxi arrangements rather than returning to the railway station.

Step-free planning

Accessibility and assistance

Network Rail’s accessible guide identifies Terminus Place as the accessible station taxi rank and says black taxis are wheelchair accessible.

Staff assistance to the rank is available during the hours published by Network Rail. Book Passenger Assist if you need a planned connection, and tell staff whether a side or rear ramp works best for you.

Wheelchair accessibleAll licensed London taxis are wheelchair accessible.
Card and contactlessCard and contactless payments must be accepted with no card surcharge.
Licensed taxi onlyUse the appointed rank and take the first available licensed London taxi.

Plan the interchange

Rail, Tube and local connections

  • Victoria Underground serves the Victoria, District and Circle lines.
  • National Rail services are split across different parts of the station, so your nearest exit can depend on the platform.
  • Victoria Coach Station is separate from the rail and Underground complex. Allow extra time for the street-level walk between them.

Before you travel

Practical passenger tips

  • Terminus Place can be extremely busy. Stay in the managed queue and keep children and luggage clear of moving taxis.
  • Buckingham Palace events and road closures can change local routes. Your driver may need to approach a destination from a different direction.
  • If using a private-hire operator, check the named collection point carefully. “Victoria” can mean the railway station, coach station or a nearby street.

Useful for onward journeys

Popular destinations from Victoria

These are orientation ideas, not fixed-fare quotes. London taxi fares are metered and journey time depends on traffic, restrictions and the exact destination.

Buckingham Palace

Ask for the public entrance or nearby street you need, especially during ceremonies or closures.

Westminster

A useful option with luggage or limited mobility, though traffic near Parliament can be controlled.

Chelsea and Belgravia

Provide a precise address because garden squares and one-way roads affect the best drop-off point.

Victoria Coach Station

It is a separate location. State “Victoria Coach Station, Buckingham Palace Road” to avoid confusion.

Black taxi or minicab?

A licensed London taxi can wait at an appointed rank and accept a passenger without a booking. A minicab or app-based private-hire vehicle must be booked through a licensed operator before the journey. Do not accept an unsolicited ride from someone approaching you inside or outside the station.

Taxi availability is not live. A valid rank can be empty for a period, particularly late at night or during disruption.
